Cultural profile 2022

Are you interested in exploring yoga and mindfulness? Then Yoga Lifestyle is for you.

"The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it." Thich Nhat Hahn (1992)

The trip

The profile trip is a trip to a yoga retreat or similar, where we get to immerse ourselves in the world of yoga. This time the trip is to Mexico. The most important thing is that you are open, curious and ready to challenge yourself.

The following are presented as possibilities and are therefore something we may have to experience in Mexico:

On the trip, students will discover the states of Yacatán and Quintana Roo on the Yucatan Peninsula on the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. We will see the Kukulkan pyramid, the Mayan temple at the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, school visits in Merida, Cenotes and much, much more.

The purpose of the trip is to develop, push personal boundaries and form you through experiences of another culture.

This is the first time that Ranum Efterskole College is travelling to Mexico, so the students will also have the opportunity to come up with good ideas for things to do and places to stay on the trip.

    The lessons

The yoga craze has really hit Denmark and is has become a very popular form of training or side activity to other forms of sports. In this profile subject there will be great focus on the physical positions, alignment and deep stretches, but we will also immerse ourselves in the yoga tradition and attain a glimpse in what e.g. mudra, pranayama and chakras mean. Yoga is a very broad discipline, and despite focusing on Hatha and Vinyasa, we will incorporate elements from Yin, restorative and Asthanga yoga - You might even learn how to do a headstand!

Our focus will be on immersing ourselves and creating good routines that you can use going forward in your life.

Oftentimes it is hard for us to look inwards and slow down our tempo in a hectic everyday, but yoga has a positive influence on our life and can help us live in the present. Through meditation, breathing techniques and physically challenging positions, you will experience greater mental energy, a stronger body in better balance, less stress and greater presence.

    Corona: Restrictions, rules etc.

Mexico has not introduced entry restrictions. This means that Danish citizens, foreigners with permanent residence in Denmark and business travellers can enter Mexico freely, regardless of the country they are entering from.

There are flights to Mexico from both the US and Europe. It is important that passengers who need to stop over in another country contact the embassy of that country or their airline for questions about transit entry restrictions.

The land border between Mexico and the United States is reopened in November 2021 to fully vaccinated persons.

For entry by air to Mexico, all passengers must create an account and complete the following health form no earlier than 12 hours before the time of departure. Completing the form is free of charge and should only be done via the official website at the link above.

    Quarantine and testing rules

Mexico has not introduced any official rules on quarantine, vaccination or testing on entry into the country.

However, it is recommended that you self-quarantine for 10 days if you experience symptoms of COVID-19. Read more about the recommendations on self-isolation at

As Mexico has not introduced entry restrictions, there is no need to use the Danish coronapas.

    Internal travel restrictions

Mexico has not imposed travel restrictions internally and domestic transport (air and bus routes) continues at normal capacity.

    Transit options

It is possible to travel in transit through Mexico.
