"The best year of my life"

When I first started at Ranum, I had a picture in my head of how the year would be, but it did not take long for that picture to be completely shattered and forgotten, because a year at Ranum can't be predicted. I have enjoyed every last second and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. The friends I have met and the memories I have from this year is something I will carry with me going forward.

As a student coming from a very small town, and also having only attended a very small school earlier, it is definitely an experience for life. You'll arrive at a school with 450 other people and suddenly you have to figure out how to live your everyday life at school. You'll experience other cultures and people who have never heard of an efterskole, and suddenly you have to share a table, classroom and even a room with them.

We are often put to the test, because there are so many people around that even 4 months into the year we meet new faces. For me personally, it has been a fantastic year with a lot of new memories, friends and new stories to tell.

It was interesting to visit a communistic country, because you couldn't go to a McDonald's or other western shops. Everything is Cuban and also there isn't a lot of stuff - whereas in Miami everything is in mega size and a lot of wealth is on display. In Havana the Cuban music is everywhere and creates a fantastic energy in the city.

My year at REC has been a total upheaval. I have met a ton of nice people and friends, and I made memories for life. But most importantly I have become closer to myself and have developed extremely my, personality wise.
