Fashion & Sustainability

Trendspotting, recycled materials, fashion, fashion shows, design workshops and much more.

The trip

We are looking at travelling to Paris. We hope to visit the fashion museums Palais Galliera and Musee des Arts Décoratifs.

In addition, we'll be trend-spotting on the street in the areas around Les Halles, Centre de Pompidou and the Marais district, where there may also be opportunities for second-hand shopping.

We will - if possible - attend a workshop at MiniMeParis, where you can co-design your own denim jacket, which you will of course take home

Of course, we would also like to see and visit Notre Dame, Place de Bastille, the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées and last but not least Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre.

The Lessons

Fashion and Sustainability is primarily a skills subject. We work with all elements of the creative process from brainstorm and mindmap to finished product.

We work with recycled materials such as bed linen, tablecloths, curtains, from which we sew new clothes. This could be trousers, dresses, tops, tote bags and scrunchies. This way, we use already existing fabric that is easy to work with.

During the profile period, you will learn basic sewing technical skills such as working with a pattern and sewing on a sewing machine. If you have already mastered these skills, we will challenge you with new techniques.

We will work both on jointly defined tasks, but also on individual projects.

The teaching will also have upcycling, re-design and sustainability as a focal point, and this will be reflected in the teaching, just as we would like to have guest teachers and speakers who can teach upcycling, re-design, sustainability, etc.
