Escape Room, 9 classes on tour, Nepal Cultural Studies on trek and a few videos!

Dear reader,

We are now back at school, after 2 fantastic trips together. The students have returned to their imagination classes, which are working flat out to complete their projects for imagination week. They are producing a horror film, making jewellery & axes and putting on a play. The cultural subjects are also back in the schedules and the Nepal teams in particular have had quite a week.

All this, and more, in this week's newsletter.

Escape Room

On Wednesday evening, students at the school had the pleasure of a real-life Escape Room in the attic of Kær, set up by creative arts teacher Sofie. Escape rooms are an experience where you, in a team, try to break out of a room. You have to solve puzzles and mysteries to escape. So many students showed up that several had to go in vain. Therefore, the success will be repeated soon 🙂

The fastest teams to drop out are as follows:

First place: Dumbledore's Army (with a time of 16.40,75)

Second place: shut up (with a time of 17.02,53)

Third place: the four Sherlocks (with a time of 18.14, 34)

Fourth place: MostleGayGang (with a time of 23.39, 18)

Below you can see a video of how the walking solution works:

Nepal Cultural trek

The Nepal Culture group went on their first training trip to Vilsted Tower on Tuesday, with 2.3km to the destination. It was a lovely trip where the students got some fresh air and had a chance to chat with each other.

Their teacher Nigel Hopwood says there will be a lot of projects in the future on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

On a visit to Salling Plast

On Wednesday, the 9th graders visited Salling Plast, where they were given a guided tour of how the company is helping to increase the green transition. In addition, the students got to see their production and got an explanation of what each machine does.

Salling plast is a supplier of all kinds of PeHD fittings for district heating, industry, aquaculture and water etc.

Driving lessons

Students at the school have been able to choose driving lessons as one of their Imagination subjects. Many students jumped at the opportunity, and below is a glimpse of their theory lessons.

TikTok

In the run-up to Christmas, we were able to share the happy news that our TikTok channel had reached 100 thousand likes. That was huge! The channel is still going strong and you can find a few new videos in there. One of them is this video, which reached over 55 thousand views in less than 24 hours. Enjoy 🙂

Meet us at trade fairs

Traditionally, we spend the weekends in January and February at various fairs in the Danish country. Here is a small overview of the fairs we are at:

For each of the fairs, there is an event on our Facebook page that you can sign up for. Here you will find useful information and get updates on our fair visits.

Silkeborg

Aalborg

Roskilde

Aabenraa

In addition to the efterskole fairs, we will also be at the Boat Show Denmark fairs on 24 - 26 February, and 2 - 5 March. More information to follow.

The fairs are a unique opportunity to meet the school off campus, and have a good chat with both students and staff at the school.

Skydive weekend!

On the weekend of April 29 and 30, skydiving returns to the school in full force! This time we have 150 tandem jumps, with the jumps taking place from 4000 meters altitude. We are once again looking forward to breaking the Danish record! Registration and further information will follow.

Below is a video from our first visit to DropZone Denmark - and a little teaser for what the skydiving weekend looks like!

Thank you so much for reading, see you next Friday!

Have a great weekend,
