23 Apr A time of much celebration at Ranum Efterskole College
There are plenty of good things to celebrate during this time.
Ranum Efterskole College is celebrating its 23rd birthday this week, and the last profile and activity courses of the year are well underway. We have also just organised Culture and Family Day, and the exam period has begun with the first international oral exams well underway.
Happy reading!
Culture & Family Day
Sunday was a great day of culture and friendship, with students vividly recounting their travelling adventures from March.
Great meals were enjoyed in the sun, lots of energy was spent on activities around the school, and not least, you could win prizes in our cultural raffle, which we bought from all over the world.
All proceeds from the raffle go to our friendship projects around the world. Over the years, we have helped build a school on a mountainside in Nepal. With the money from the raffle, we can now ensure salaries for all staff at the Nepalese school for a whole year - so thank you for your donations.
Thank you for a wonderful visit and for your curiosity about the young people and their experiences.

Spring equals exams
Last week and this week, the focus has been on the Cambridge oral exams.
Cambridge exams are international tests from Cambridge Assessment International Education that are used in many countries to document students' academic performance. They are available in a variety of subjects and are known for their high academic standards and highly standardised assessment criteria. IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is one of the most widely used examinations at this level.
For the oral exams, students sit individually and complete their exam on video. The recordings are then sent to the UK where they are assessed by external examiners from Cambridge. It's a very strict and structured system that ensures a high and consistent quality of assessment across countries and schools.
The students who typically choose Cambridge subjects at Ranum are international students who will use them in their further education, or Danish students who find international colleges or universities exciting in the future.

A great season for our football girls
Did you know that we have girls' football at Ranum Efterskole College?
The football girls have had a fantastic season, and this week we have produced a new video for the website that focuses on their efforts and development.
They are so cool!
Icelandic horse riding in Blokhus
The new profile courses have now started, and this year more than 60 students have chosen horse riding. As the maximum number of students in the class is 25, the remaining students have chosen riding as an activity subject instead. From day one, the sense of community among the students and the interaction with the horses is top notch.
Here you can enjoy the beautiful pictures from the students' first day in Blokhus.

Congratulations to Ranum Efterskole College
Today is Ranum Efterskole's birthday - hurray, hurray, hurray!
23 years ago, Ranum Efterskole College was founded with an ambition to educate and train young people to be curious about the world in a strong and diverse community. Back then, the school was much smaller than today, but it's inspiring to see how it has grown year by year without losing its core values of democracy, community and a global outlook.
The day has been celebrated with brunsviger for everyone, and the flag has been raised beautifully in the warm spring weather.
Windsurfing students learn to master the wind
Sun and wind - what more could you want when learning to windsurf for the first time?
It was a fantastic afternoon with wind in their hair and plenty of enthusiasm to take on a new sport. Everyone started on land where they mastered the basic exercises, and when the fjord gets a little warmer, it will all be put to the test on the water.

When the world comes together at Ranum Efterskole College
Ranum Efterskole College has students from more than 25 different countries, and we also have AFS and Erasmus students who stay at the school for short periods throughout the year.
Yesterday, our current AFS students from Indonesia, Thailand and Switzerland organised a cultural evening of dancing, traditional costumes and delicious snacks.
It is a great pleasure to see how the other students engage, listen and learn from the many different cultures represented at the school.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
This week, teaching ends already today, Thursday, as we organised Culture and Family Day on Sunday. It was a really good and cosy day with many student presentations and activities in the 20 culture classes. Parents, siblings and grandparents were engaged listeners and gave lots of praise to both students and teachers - especially to the staff, who managed to adapt the subjects from one part of the world to another based on completely new areas.
It's amazing to see students stand back and take pride in their own adventures and stories. They have every right to be, because very few young people get - and seize - the opportunity to experience the world in the way they have.
23 years ago, we broke ground for Ranum Efterskole in the garden between the two old dormitory buildings. Many people from the town and the school community turned up, and Mayor Jens Lauritzen broke ground for a new middle building with a kitchen, dining hall and a large assembly room in the attic. Things went quickly and we almost reached the finish line so that the first 86 students could start at Ranum Efterskole in August. It was a magical day, and although the first year was a great trial for everyone, it was worth it.
We count the school's birthday in school years, so today we celebrate 22 years - and the fact that it's also the principal's birthday makes it even better. Thank you for 22 fantastic years to colleagues, and thank you to all students for a lovely birthday song in several languages at the assembly.
Happy weekend to everyone.
Yours sincerely
Olav Storm
Principal

Summer camps for all ages
If you are between 14-17 years old, this is a unique opportunity for you to socialise, develop new skills and try a lot of fun and challenging activities. It's all about community, experiences and memories for life.
New this year, we're also launching a Grandparents Camp. Here, grandparents and grandchildren can enjoy a week's stay together with good catering throughout the week, exciting excursions and fun activities for all ages.
We will visit the Limfjord Museum in Løgstør and take a historical trip to Livø. In addition, the week offers plenty of activities to enjoy together across generations.
We're looking forward to a summer filled with community and great experiences.
