Ranum Efterskole Newsletter 7.12.13

Dear reader!
Bodil also left her mark on the week that passed at Ranum Efterskole. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the "homestay" day at the contact teachers, much to the chagrin of students and teachers who had prepared and looked forward to a pleasant afternoon and evening. Some teachers had prepared the food, including rice pudding for about 20 people. The teachers who live in Ranum near the school carried out their evening. The other students gathered for various activities ranging from sports to music, design and Christmas fun. The wind blew down the big Christmas tree in Knudsens Square, and several old trees in front of the seminary building and bricks came loose in several places. We kept all students in their respective houses provided a cozy evening indoors, where students put a lot of energy into decorating rooms and apartment for Christmas.

The week went by: Monday night was a girls' night out with lots of girl talk. Many boys were a bit jealous, but were not let in.

Tuesday afternoon work we made a workshop about the upcoming election for the upcoming profile subjects in the 3rd and final term. Students gathered in the hall and through several exercises we motivated and explored interest in the many proposals for new profile subjects.New ideas for profile subjects also emerged in the middle of the process, including Circus and Magic, as well as Skipping Performance, and Fencing. Several presentations for new subjects discussed possibilities for merging and new ideas emerged. For example, hardball and adventure came together.
Now the students will vote on Monday on which ideas to work on, and then over the next week new presentations will be made with content, activities and destinations, as well as finances. The final vote will take place after the coming weekend, when there will be information for parents and students.

Students worked up a sweat with Christmas math.

In the coming week students work on their OSO and Project assignments in the morning, and in the afternoon the school is on the other end of a big Performance Project. All students are involved in many different tasks and the common goal is to create a Drama and Performance show, as well as an activity day for families and friends on Saturday or Sunday 14-15 December.
Students' families and friends can register via the school timetable, and it is important to register on the day of the orientation for the cultural profile subject that the student has. Other interested parties can send an email to info@ranumefterskole.dk, and register this way, by Thursday at the latest.
This week and next, we will be visited by a Bello, who is the head teacher of a large private school in Ghana, Thamala. Among other things, he contributes to the teaching of the Ghana team. (picture to come;-)
On Friday the 13th there is a Lucia parade and traditionally the boys are woken up in their rooms and can enjoy the experience without having to do morning exercise. Remember white sheets and candles, girls!

This weekend we have only a few students at the school, as the students have held a big student party outside the school, where many parent volunteers have helped to ensure a good and safe Christmas party for the young people. Thank you all for your great commitment!

In the last week up At Christmas there are final exams and OSO and Project writing, as well as Christmas parties. We have Christmas dinner on Thursday evening and on Friday morning there is a RE Christmas service in Ranum Church at 11 am followed by a Christmas lunch. At 1:14-2:00 pm there is a Christmas party in the banquet hall. The first half of the year ends with apple slices and fun in the canteen until 3.30 pm.

Best regards and have a great weekend!
