22 May New records at Ranum and last day of school
With 298 visiting children from the municipality's many 2nd classes, we set a record for the 2nd class day at efterskolen this year. You can read more about what the day was all about in this week's newsletter. Here you can also see the beautiful pictures from the students' last day of school.
Happy reading!
Around the world in one day - 298 school students visit for activity day
What a day it was when 298 pupils from the municipality's 2nd classes visited us for a big activity day. Bus after bus arrived full of happy and energetic children ready for a day of adventure, play and community.
To welcome them, many of our 10th graders had planned an exciting “Round the World” trip with activities from different countries. Along the way, the children visited Mexico, Ireland, Greenland and Italien, where they tried their hand at face painting, teamwork exercises, marshmallow towers, egg races and many other fun challenges.
It was a festive and lively day filled with smiles, laughter and good humour. It was great to see how our students welcomed the younger children with commitment and energy. Even the rain couldn't put an end to a day full of energy and good experiences.

Day trip to Thy National Park
Not everyone was there to welcome the happy children from the municipality's 2nd classes, as a large part of the school was also on an excursion. The trip went to Bulbjerg in Thy National Park - an impressive natural area by the North Sea, known for its striking limestone cliff that rises 47 metres above sea level.
Here, students had the opportunity to experience the magnificent nature up close and enjoy a day in the beautiful surroundings.

Danish Championships in efterskole Padel
There was fighting, cheering and high-level padel at the Danish efterskolepadel Championships. Ranum Efterskole College had a strong line-up with six participants: Vera, Agnethe, Anton, Silas, Niels and Oskar.
All pairs played between four and six matches and all players took home victories from the tournament. Particularly impressive were the efforts of Silas and Anton, who won all their matches and were crowned Danish champions in their age group.
A huge congratulations on this great achievement!

Hot dogs and sailing go hand in hand
Skills sailing had its last gathering this week, and of course it had to be marked with a mini race on the water followed by a cosy get-together at the harbour with hot dogs on the grill.
It's been a pleasure to follow the team's perseverance and dedication, especially during the winter period, when the training mainly consisted of theory and preparation for the licence.

Last day of school celebrations
The day has arrived - the last day of school. A day many students have been looking forward to because it's a festive day filled with fun activities and a great atmosphere, where summer really kicks off as the end of a year of school work.
The day also marks the transition to the oral exam period and that there are now only five weeks left in the 1TP5 year. It's hard to believe how quickly time has gone by.
Enjoy the pictures!

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
The last day of school at Ranum Efterskole College marks the end of the written exams and the end of traditional classroom teaching. Instead, we spend the days doing activities, preparing for the oral exams and conducting them. Students have the opportunity - around their preparation and tests - to choose from many different communities and activities each day.
We organise the last day of school as a festival of fun and games, where the goal is to collect points to dunk employees in the big diving tank. The idea of shooting employees into the tank is just a way to release your pent-up frustrations about, for example, a teacher who has unjustifiably criticised you for being late. At the same time, we adults also dare to show that you shouldn't take yourself so seriously that you can't take a dip for shared entertainment. It gives a lot of ”street credit” to shoot down both the principal and other management - and it's part of the job to give young people a little extra self-confidence.
In recent weeks, we've seen a number of students being cancelled by their parents for a wide variety of reasons. This is a new trend, and if we disregard AGF's gold celebration, where there were many ”sick” cancellations, it frustrates both staff and roommates. May and June are the last big chapter of the 1TP5 year, where the freedom to choose from a sea of activities in between rehearsals and the opportunity to seek out those final affirming communities can be almost intoxicating. Of course, we understand that some students and families want to come together to celebrate a new student, but we strongly encourage both parents and students to stay in the efterskole life for the last time - and not risk slipping out of the community by opting out.
This weekend is Pentecost - and that means carnival in Aalborg. We know from experience that it can be a big mouthful for young people, especially those travelling from far away. Therefore, we have informed all parents and students that clear agreements must be made about participation and plans during Pentecost. It is the parents' sole responsibility if a student leaves the school during Pentecost, and the school is not open to students who may be stranded in the festivities. We hope that everyone who participates in the carnival has a safe and enjoyable experience and wish everyone a very happy Pentecost. We look forward to seeing the students again on Monday between 18.00 and 21.30.
Have a great weekend and Pentecost.
Yours sincerely
Olav Storm
Principal
