Newsletter 9.3.2012.

Dear reader!
It has been a very eventful week for all students, staff and board.
All students have been to the cinema either Monday or Tuesday afternoon in Løgstør to see the film Hvidsten gruppen. It was a moving and great experience for everyone!
On Wednesday night, Wafande played at the Imagination loft and raised the atmosphere to a historic level. The next day, there were autographs on shoes, arms and on the new Hall of Fame at the Imagination loft.

Pedagogical it has been a great week, with intense work in the book subjects and students getting their opinions and grades in OSO and project work. The level has been a bit fluctuating, but overall high for most. In the evenings there has been a lot of fun and activity. Floorball has been practised in the run-up to the North Jutland championship and in the warm evenings there have been ball games on the lawn. On Thursday evening, 4 girls did the community a favour and made cakes for everyone.

The international focus moves into the after-school.
Board representatives and management attended the Afterschool Association's annual meeting this weekend and we received strong support for a proposal to work towards establishing an international secretariat function within the Afterschool Association. The initiative will, among other things, strengthen the aim of bringing the world into Afterschool.
On Tuesday evening we held a board meeting and decided to start remodelling the top floor of the middle building. Here we will set up an international efterskole ward with 40 beds, mainly for young people from other nations. It will be a beautiful and exciting project that is relatively easy to realise in the spring. We are covering the roof of the intermediate building and building a dormer on the east side. We will try to complete the most demanding tasks in week 16, when we are travelling. The rebuilding is ready for the start of the school year in August and pupils from several countries have been admitted.

We go out into the afterschool world to mirror our own practice and gather inspiration.
Today, Friday, the majority of the staff has been on the first experience expedition to another after-school. We visited the BGI Academy and had a great experience and insight into how another "big" afterschool works. Many thanks to all teachers, leaders and other staff at BGI for a day full of learning and experiences.

Last year, the BGI kitchen received the "Canteen of the Year Award".
While the majority of all staff were on an Erfa tour, this year's trainees organised a great theme day around the theme of health.

Theme day on Health.
While the teachers were away on an Erfa trip, the rest of the school held a subject day on "Health". The topic was divided into 3 themes: 1: Physical, 2: Social and 3: Psychological. After a short introduction in the main hall, the groups rotated to the 3 themes, with good and competent presentations from our former interns Nanna and Jonas, flanked by 6 fellow students. The participating students approached the presentations positively and constructively. Praise from the student teachers.

Swimming here is our overall aim to be happy and fun exercise, where each time we have a compulsory part that can be either "Swimming" or play and community building. Then a free part where you can beat lanes, practice jumping from 1- and 3-meter swings, play, tune and have fun.
In addition, it is intended that, in true Ranum fashion, there will be opportunities for the students themselves to help create the content.

This Thursday it was Erik D. who was in charge of the game "Shark and small fish" on the deep water. The story is actually sad, the small fish are "eaten", but still transformed into sharks, so imagination is also involved. Then it was "Ståtrold" at the shallow end. Next time the student element will be a trip to the lake outside, so we'll cover nature sports there too.

In the coming week. This weekend there is a wedding party and next week, in addition to book classes, profile classes and electives, there is a great concert on Tuesday night with Hannah Schneider. On Wednesday there will be a charity dinner for the first time with student presentations from the Nepal, Ghana and India trips. See the invitation in last week's Newsletter - below and remember to reserve your place.

It's going to be a great week, which ends with the Parents' Council organising a student party in collaboration with the Student Party Committee. Registration closed on Monday and over 200 students are attending!

Best regards and have a nice weekend
