27 Feb Our Memory Hoodies are here!
Read on this week as our students on the two Bali teams have been on an excursion to the beautiful Rebild Hills, where both endurance and community were in focus. At the same time, the Namibia team ran the sports track for a good cause and raised money for their friendship school - an effort that required both energy and determination.
In addition, the students have received their new, stylish Memory Hoodies, which symbolise the unity of class 25/26.
You can also read about our inspiring visit to southern Germany, where we got a unique insight into the UWC schools' work with peace, sustainability and international community. And if you want to follow all our students' experiences and travels around the world, find out where you can follow along - because in a week and a half the adventure really begins.
Happy reading
Our Memory Hoodies are here!
The post has arrived with our super cool Memory Hoodies. A shirt that symbolises the unity of year 25/26 - with all the students' signatures and journeys gathered in one design.
Smiles spread quickly as news of the hoodies' arrival spread around the school.
They've landed at just the right time, right on the eve of our travels, so we can go out into the world as a united flock in just a week and a half.

Full Host students on an adventurous weekend in Aarhus
Last weekend, our Full Host students went on a weekend trip to Aarhus.
The programme included pottery painting and socialising, followed by delicious street food. There was also time for shopping and a trip to Bazar Vest, where the students explored the many exciting shops and impressions.
Thanks for a great weekend!

Coral Restoration - Where life is created
It's no secret that the upcoming trips are on the minds of students and teachers alike, but everyday life is still in full swing.
In Coral Restoration, students now have their own aquariums that they look after and maintain themselves. They control all the balances and ensure that fish and corals have the best conditions to grow and thrive.
It's amazing to see the responsibility students take on!

Training tour in Rebild Bakker
Both Bali teams went on a training trip to Rebild Bakker today to be best prepared for the upcoming volcano trekking. Spirits were high as the bus set off - and they rose further when the students spotted a McDonald's on the horizon. However, the excitement took a slight dip when we drove past without stopping.
Fortunately, our spirits quickly returned when we arrived at the hills and laced up our hiking boots. This is where they really got down to business. The students showed great energy and fought their way through muddy slopes, testing their balance (almost to the limit) while enjoying the beautiful scenery - even if the weather offered a few drips from above.
After two and a half hours of hiking, we arrived back at the starting point - physically tired but mentally refreshed after a pleasant and challenging trip.
On the way home to Ranum, no one was annoyed to pass the burger restaurant. Instead, most students took a well-deserved power nap after the hardships of the day.
We now feel completely ready for Bali.

Namibia runs for a good cause
Watching the Namibia team go round and round the sports ground, all in the name of a good cause, almost made you dizzy.
Last Thursday, they raised money for their friendship school in Namibia, which they will visit in just over a week and a half. One lap was 900 metres, and several of the students finished smiling after running between 5 and 8 kilometres.
The students have found their own sponsors who have donated an amount per kilometre run, combining community, commitment and sweat with support for an important cause.
Cool project!!!

Visit to Robert Bosch College in Freiburg
The United World College schools are in many ways a role model for us in Ranum. That's why Olav, Birthe and Tine from our international department visited UWC Robert Bosch College in Germany.
The visit provided a great insight into how a UWC school - with a focus on peace, sustainability and students from more than 60 nationalities - works in practice.
We are also pleased to realise how much we in Ranum have in common with the values and purpose of the UWC schools. It confirms that we are part of a larger, international narrative about education, community and responsibility.

Summer camps for all ages
The snow is finally gone, the birds are singing and the days are getting brighter and longer.
This means that spring and summer are on their way - and that's why we're once again promoting our fantastic summer camps.
If you are between 14-17 years old, this is a unique opportunity for you to socialise, develop new skills and try a lot of fun and challenging activities. It's all about community, experiences and memories for life.
New this year, we're also launching a Grandparents Camp. Here, grandparents and grandchildren can enjoy a week's stay together with good catering throughout the week, exciting excursions and fun activities for all ages.
We will visit the Limfjord Museum in Løgstør and take a historical trip to Livø. In addition, the week offers plenty of activities to enjoy together across generations.
We're looking forward to a summer filled with community and great experiences.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
We're getting ready for the third student party on Friday, and next week we're travelling the world on our cultural trips. At the same time, politicians across the country are gearing up for a snap election campaign. When we land again, there are only a few days until 24 March. Dear Mette Frederiksen, the timing is not quite optimal - you could have given us a little more time to put democracy firmly on the school timetable.
An important election is ahead of us all - also in the efterskole world. We hope that the election campaign will be about more than pensions and Great Prayer Day. For the sake of young people.
Who dares to say it loud and clear? Let's invest in young people. In strong education and well-being. Let's be inspired by countries like Norway and Finland, which invest ambitiously in schools and education. It's better for Denmark, better for the individual's opportunities in life - and in the big picture, better for world peace. So yes, “buy, buy, buy” - but not just gunpowder and bullets. Invest in education and information.
Over the past few days, I have visited the UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg together with two colleagues. Here we got a strong insight into how a school with a focus on peace, sustainability and students from more than 60 nationalities works in practice. It was inspiring - and we were pleased to realise how much we in Ranum share values and direction with the purpose of the UWC schools.
Have a great weekend - and happy student party to the students and the many parent volunteers.
Correction from last week’s column: Last week I wrote about an unpleasant incident and, in that connection, used the Danish word “forulempet.” In the English translation this was rendered as “molested,” which in this context has a far more serious meaning than was intended. The correct English word is “aggravated.” I of course apologize for the incorrect translation.

It happens:
