Tanzania

The ‘Tanzania’ cultural studies course is a new cultural studies course, the aim of which is to gain a better understanding of Tanzania’s culture, history and natural environment. Tanzania is situated on Africa’s east coast, and off the mainland lies the island of Zanzibar, which belongs to Tanzania; it is Zanzibar that is the destination of our trip.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Tanzania was part of German East Africa; after the First World War, the territory was handed over to the United Kingdom, and Tanzania has been an independent country since 1961. Tanzania is about 20 times the size of Denmark and has about 10 times as many inhabitants. Tanzania is an incredibly fascinating country with a diverse culture and a rich history.
