05 Dec Musical and market – this year's Christmas family day was a great success!
Family Day was full of life, with the musical and Christmas market encouraging both students and guests to spread out across the school and enjoy lots of wonderful experiences. At the same time, the 10th grade rounded off their TEBO course and got a glimpse of everything that awaits them on the other side of efterskolen. And to top it all off, we are rounding off the week with a big student party filled with Christmas cheer and community spirit.
Happy reading!
Christmas market with meaning
The Christmas market on Family Day was a great success and created a cosy atmosphere throughout the school. The pupils sold biscuits, decorations, Christmas ornaments and much more, and it was clear that a lot of time and creativity had gone into the many beautiful products. The visitors were very supportive, and the stalls were bustling with activity from start to finish. All the money from the Christmas market goes to our partner schools around the world, so the pupils' efforts make a real difference.
Thank you for visiting!

A Ranum Christmas Carol – musical performance
On Saturday, Family Day was spiced up with the musical A Ranum Christmas Carol. The performance follows Alex, a student who is losing his enthusiasm for school life, but who, on a cold November night, is visited by three “Christmas spirits” who show him the past, present and future. The students were really into the performance, and it was fantastic to see how everyone worked together to create a great experience. The dancers, actors, technicians, musicians and media people all gave it their all! The result was a heart-warming and entertaining performance, full of atmosphere and creative energy.

Skiing/snowboarding & Prague trip
In January, around 490 students and teachers will go on a skiing trip to Stöten in Sweden, while 120 students and teachers will head to Prague in the Czech Republic. This week, we held the first information meetings with the students about both trips, and it is clear that the students are bubbling with anticipation and looking forward to getting away after the Christmas holidays.
Packing lists and itineraries have been sent out via the school's channels, and all students have also received verbal instructions. Although these are large travel groups, we know from previous years' experience that the students take responsibility – and we hope that everyone will have a fantastic trip.
Below you will find a video in which former students share their best advice for travelling with efterskolen. Enjoy!
Students work creatively with cultural subjects
Cultural studies have really taken off. The students are delving into everything from the unwritten rules, food and language of their destination countries to nature, geography and the social conditions that shape everyday life there. The photos are from the Nepal team, which this week has been working on the youth rebellion that has had a major impact on the country since last spring. At the same time, they have started designing their own logos for the shirts they will wear on their trip.

First aid course for future road users
Several students have started taking driving lessons, so Thursday was set aside for a one-day first aid course. Here, the students received thorough training in how to handle various emergency situations, ranging from minor injuries to more serious accidents. The course provided both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, so that everyone is better prepared if an accident should occur. It was an educational and important day, where safety and responsibility were the focus.

Walking dogs for a good cause
Four girls from have decided to raise extra money for their upcoming cultural trip to Namibia, where they will be helping both animals and people. After a strong start to their fundraising efforts at the weekend's Christmas market, they are now continuing on their own – an initiative that demonstrates both commitment and drive! The girls are offering to walk dogs in the Ranum area. Way to go, girls!

Photo safari on professional development days in Viborg
Once again this week, Year 10 had two days of TEBO bridge-building with the business community, while Year 9 had subject days. The subject day for Year 9 in Danish was spent in Viborg, where they went on a photo safari around the city and worked with motifs inspired by Golden Age paintings and P.C. Skovgaard. See their route around the city on the map below.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
The performance and family day were a huge success, attracting many visiting families. The musical A Ranum Christmas Carol used drama, song and dance to tell the story of student Alex's challenges in finding himself and the friendships that surrounded him. The moral of the story was clear: put down your mobile phone and invest yourself in the friends who are around you 24/7. Then you will get – and give your friends – a fantastic efterskole community.
The many visitors toured in just four hours between the musical, Christmas lunch, Christmas market, cultural presentations and school-home discussions with the contact teacher.
This week marked the end of the 10th annual TEBO programme, where participants gained insight into the educational path to a particular world/industry in seven different worlds. For many, this is an important process in choosing a secondary education, and for others, it helps clarify which paths are not of interest.
Tonight, students and the volunteer parent council are hosting the second student party with over 470 students registered. We wish everyone a wonderful and safe Christmas-themed party experience.
Have a great weekend and second Sunday of Advent.
