Spooky Halloween, first student party and anniversary at Ranum

Autumn has brought everything from horror and laughter to democracy and new beginnings at Ranum. Students have voted on cultural subjects, embarked on new activity subjects and found inspiration for future projects. We have celebrated anniversaries with former students and felt the community across generations. There has been room for serious learning, creative endeavours and great experiences. In short - another eventful week in the spirit of Ranum, where community and curiosity go hand in hand with a big dose of spookiness in the run-up to Halloween.

The first student party of the year

The first student party was full of good energy and happy students! The PTA praises the students for their friendliness and positive atmosphere - and the students send a big thank you back to the PTA and the many parent volunteers who made the evening possible. A great start to autumn and the dark winter months!

Big anniversary day at Ranum

On Saturday, a big anniversary day was organised at Ranum, where former students from 5, 10, 15 and 20 years ago returned to the school. The day was a reunion with old classmates, former teachers and many good memories. The school was buzzing with life, laughter and stories from the efterskole era. Tours, pictures and shared activities set the scene for a day filled with nostalgia and community. The anniversary day reminded everyone that Ranum is still a place where friendships and experiences last.

Deer from farm to fork

On Monday, the hunting team had a special and educational experience where the students worked on skinning and butchering a deer.
For many, the process may seem overwhelming, but it's an important part of understanding the whole hunt - from the live animal to the finished meal.

Students learnt how to protect themselves while working, for example if the animal can still kick and how to deal with any ticks in the fur. They also learnt how to skin the animal correctly and use the whole animal with respect for nature.

The meat will of course be saved, and later the team will use it in cooking, so they experience the whole cycle from hunt to table.

Gastronomy cooks from their profile subject tours

This week, the Gastronomy Skills team has been inspired by their travels from the profile course. The students have recreated flavours, smells and atmospheres from the countries they have visited.
Valdemar was travelling in Greece and decided to make a classic Greek dish with his own twist.

Watch the video and listen to Valdemar talk about his dish and experiences from the trip!

Final grades are just around the corner

The time for final exams is approaching and it's being felt all around the school. Many subjects are being studied, practised and tested at the drop of a hat these weeks.
Students work with concentration to show what they have learned throughout the autumn.
These pictures are from Tuesday's physics class, where experiments and repetition of this year's topics are in full swing.

Activity courses are well underway

Students have started their activity courses and have embarked on a new period of learning and challenges. Here they have the opportunity to try out new skills in everything from design and music to sports and outdoor activities. Some students have taken on the role of DJs, while others - like in the pictures - have tried their hand at the subject Shooting Range in Løgstør, where shooting with a salon rifle

The project class on a company visit

On Wednesday, the project class visited Headspace in Aalborg to learn about their efforts and services for young people. The visit gave the students an insight into how Headspace works to support young people in their everyday lives and inspired them for their own upcoming project. The students asked questions, exchanged ideas and gained new perspectives that they can now take forward in their project work.

Final vote in democratic process on cultural subjects

The final democratic vote for this year's cultural subjects has now been completed. The day began with a short briefing in the main hall, after which the students participated in an hour and a half presentation on the different subjects. Here they had the opportunity to learn more about the topics and destinations they will soon be working with and experiencing in practice. The vote marks the end of an exciting process where the students' own interests and choices are at the centre. The final results will be presented in the coming week.

Halloween and spookiness over Ranum

Thursday night was characterised by eeriness and Halloween as the abandoned students and teachers at the old school in Næsby were brought back to life. Darkness descended on the area and screams and screams filled the corridors as creepy clowns greeted the students. It was an evening full of scares, laughter and goosebumps - a Halloween to remember!

Headmaster's column

Dear reader,

The first student party was a huge success, and on behalf of us all, I would like to send a big thank you to Jens Højgaard and the voluntary parent council. It is invaluable that the young people get the opportunity to experience and learn how to party in a safe environment. Many students' visits to each other after the party have also created new and stronger friendships that form bonds for life.

This was also confirmed when we held the first anniversary get-together at Ranum on Saturday for the 20, 15, 10 and 5-year anniversary teams. There was plenty of time to share memories and refresh friendships - and it was a really nice day, which we will repeat for the next anniversary teams on the first Saturday after the autumn holidays next year.

In contrast to the weekend's cosiness was Thursday's Halloween fun. It may sound a little spooky, I realise that horror can make you happy, but the pictures speak for themselves.
