Ranum Efterskole students posing

Involvement in everything from student council work to cultural experiences and musical events

We've had another busy week at Ranum!

The week has included shooting for the hunting licence students, a festive Tuesday night for everyone and cultural exchange in the form of tastings and quizzes from our Indian and Argentinian exchange students.

The students feel at home at the school and this is evident from the many smiles you see in the corridors. You can also feel the excitement and anticipation of the upcoming profile subject trips that are just around the corner.

Happy reading!

Hunting licence students at the shooting range

Our 29 hunting students had their first day at the shooting range on Monday. It was a great start to their hunting licence training, where they practiced shooting clay pigeons. With focus, dedication and good weather, they showed great responsibility and willingness to learn. We are proud of their efforts and look forward to following their development.

Gastronomy visits Mariager Salt Factory and museum

The gastronomy team has been on an exciting trip to Mariager, where we visited the Nobian Salt Factory and the Salt Museum. We learnt about the unique structure of salt in the subsoil and its many uses in both cooking and industry. The tour ended with a cosy lunch at Café Salt. An educational and flavourful experience for everyone!

Carloyaboy lights up the party at Ranum Efterskole

Tuesday night was a concert with the upcoming group Carloyaboy in the banqueting hall. The music really got the young people going and the atmosphere was top notch. The bass was heavy and everyone had a great time. An evening with lots of energy and a great atmosphere. Carloyaboy is a Danish-Ghanaian multi-artist who sings, produces, writes and plays himself. His music combines Afropop, R&B and ampapiano and he has performed on major stages such as SPOT Festival and Roskilde Festival.

SOS Children's Villages on a visit

We had a visit from Signe from SOS Children's Villages, who taught our project management class in the Youth Unite for Global Change programme. The programme shows that young people across the globe have the same concerns as our own students, for example about climate and the future. At Ranum, we want to emphasise that young people around the world have common challenges and dreams, and that we can learn from each other.

Students will create a finished project - a video, poster or campaign - that shows how young people can unite and engage across borders. This is an important part of our work with global community and responsibility, and a central part of the school's core values, which form the basis for our annual profile and cultural subject trips.

A cultural journey to Argentina and India

This week, our AFS students from Argentina and India, who are on a four-week stay at our school, organised an exciting cultural event. They wore traditional costumes, danced and shared flavours from their home countries. They also organised quizzes that involved the other students of the school. It was a fantastic evening filled with culture, community and learning. A great way to experience the world up close.

New student council at Ranum

This week we have formed a new student council at Ranum Efterskole. This is one of the things that makes efterskole life at Ranum unique - student involvement! The student council represents all students and works actively to make the school an even better place. It is the students themselves who get to make their mark on the community and everyday life. We are proud of the commitment that has already been shown!

The dance team has got team clothes

Our dance team is ready for Efterskolernes Day on Sunday. They've got their new team kit and are looking forward to showing off their moves. Look forward to experiencing energy, rhythm and community - it's going to be great. Come and see what they've been working on since the start of the school year.

Look forward to Efterskolernes Day!

Efterskolernes Day is just around the corner and we can't wait to open the doors and show off our amazing school! The day gives future students the opportunity to learn more about Ranum Efterskole, and we expect current students to help show around, take photos and be a part of the day. So spread the word to everyone you know - the more the merrier. Together we can create a day filled with great experiences, smiles and community.

Headmaster's column

Dear reader,
It's been an eventful 1TP5Week with both fun and seriousness. First and foremost, it was great that the students returned from the extended weekend energised and pretty much ready for their upcoming profile subject trips. Unfortunately, six students from the full-host programme disrespected the school rules regarding alcohol on a day trip to Aalborg. Now back in their home country, some 9,000 kilometres away, many students are sad, but also realise that the school's rules and framework apply to everyone - regardless of distance from home.

The new Student Council has been formed with representatives from the different family groups. The Student Council is now divided into smaller committees: Events and Student Party Committee, Pedagogical and Political Committee and Intercultural Committee. The elected students and the entire student body now have direct, legitimate access to influence and participate in decisions that affect their 1TP5Year and the community.

The concert on Tuesday with musician CARLLO YABOY was a huge hit, and more than 350 students danced in waves in the ballroom. On Wednesday, our short course guests from AFS India and Argentina organised an intercultural evening for the other students, and again there was a great turnout and atmosphere.

In the coming week, all the profile teams are heading out into the world from Friday - to Egypt, Malta, Spain, Germany, England, Norway, Turkey and more. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the world's skill players keep their drones at home so we can take off and land in peace!

But before that, we're looking forward to Efterskolernes Day on Sunday and hope to see a lot of interested families.

Have a great weekend!
