12 Sep Active week at Ranum: Harvest festival, outdoor and world-class science
This week, the students have been all over the place - from a harvest festival with line dancing, cowboy boots and spare ribs, to an outdoor weekend with activities in nature on land and sea. The science team worked with biospheres and kept small ecosystems alive in jam jars, while community and curiosity took centre stage. All in all, a week filled with experiences, learning and unity - just the way we like it at Ranum.

Outdoor weekend with community and fresh air
This weekend was all about the outdoors, where the students got to use their bodies both on land and in the water. With fantastic weather and high spirits, it was a great opportunity to try new activities and challenge themselves. Many tested their limits and discovered new skills in the spirit of community. An active and memorable weekend in the name of nature!

Cowboy fun and line dancing in the autumn
On Tuesday evening, Ranum Efterskole College hosted a harvest festival where the multicultural centre was buzzing with line dancing and the schoolyard was filled with nail-biting, mechanical bulls and wrestling. The evening was decorated like a cowboy party, with many students wearing cowboy boots and denim, creating an authentic atmosphere. The kitchen served delicious ribs and the atmosphere was great from start to finish.

Science rules!
The Science team is currently working on exciting projects, including creating their own small biospheres in jam jars. Here they keep closed ecosystems alive and explore how plants, water and air interact in the natural cycle. Students get hands-on experience with biological processes and sustainability in practice. A creative and educational insight into the balance of life!

"I enjoyed every moment!" - Johana looks back on two weeks at Ranum
We had the pleasure of welcoming Johana and Amalie from the Czech Republic, who participated in a two-week Erasmus programme at Ranum Efterskole College. They attend the school Gymnazium Policka in the Czech Republic.
During their stay, they have followed the school schedule on an equal footing with our year-round students and have been part of everyday life both academically and socially.
The two weeks have flown by, and on Sunday she's heading home again. Johana says she has enjoyed every moment - especially the experience of surfing, which she tried for the very first time. Johana is pictured here.

Climbing excursion to Viborg
The climbing team spent an active and challenging Friday morning in Viborg, climbing outdoors on the high climbing walls.
Students were challenged both physically and mentally while working on technique, teamwork and trust in the outdoors.
It was a great experience with high spirits and fresh air - a perfect way to spend the weekend!

Look forward to Efterskolernes Day!
Efterskolernes Day is just around the corner and we can't wait to open the doors and show off our amazing school! The day gives future students the opportunity to learn more about Ranum Efterskole, and we expect current students to help show around, take photos and be a part of the day. So spread the word to everyone you know - the more the merrier. Together we can create a day filled with great experiences, smiles and community.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
This week we have celebrated that "autumn" is over with a big harvest festival, where traditional line dancing, rodeo bulls, tie-dye and sumo wrestling competitions were in full swing. Several students have reflected on the fact that 100 years ago we were an agricultural country, where almost everyone had a connection to agriculture in the family and where it was a prerequisite that the whole family - including many city dwellers - helped with the harvest. This connection to nature and food production is worth remembering, and at Ranum we also link it to community and knowledge of old traditions. Tomorrow, Saturday, there is also an opportunity to get out into nature for the Vilsted Sø Løbet, and we expect more than 750 visiting parents and siblings of the students. It's a school day where the students also host their families, and in the afternoon there will be information about the elections for the upcoming cultural subjects and the voluntary parents' council.
We look forward to an active and enjoyable day in a great community.
Have a great weekend!
Olav Storm Johannsen, Principal
