20 Jun Ranum in full bloom: Records, reflections and festive memories
Dear all
This week features everything from a record-breaking competition on Record Day to a visit from students from Bredsted trying out life at Ranum. We also have an exciting interview with former student Victor De Linde about the importance of efterskolen, and you can still enjoy more of the great photos from last week's gala.
Happy reading!
Records were broken
Wednesday was a record-breaking day as students competed in everything from 100 metre races, rowing and skateboarding to bench press and marshmallow challenge. The atmosphere was high and many gave their all to enter Ranum's record books!

Besearch from Germany
On Monday, seven students from Bredsted in Schleswig arrived and this week they are staying at Ranumhus and participating in school activities. They are in 7th and 8th grade and are supported by our German students who help them get started.

UNESCO twinning school from Turkey
This week we had a visit from our UNESCO twinning school from Turkey. The students have been on an exciting cultural exchange with everything from presentations with our principal to coral work in the lab and classic Danish dream cake baking. The visit is rounded off with a trip to Aggersborg - one of the five Danish ring forts on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Students go in-depth
The students have had a fantastic week of activities: some caught and prepared beautiful lobsters, which were cooked and enjoyed with pride. Meanwhile, another group has just passed their Advanced Open Water Diver certification in Aalborg - a testament to their skill, courage and commitment underwater. They can now dive to a depth of 30 metres and dive at night.

Students at height
Friday was all about speed, jumping and high spirits when 86 students went to Jump'n'Fun in Aalborg. Climbing around, throwing tricks on the trampolines and refuelling with slush ice - a day full of energy and good laughs!

Meet Victor De Linde
Victor looks back - 10 years after Ranum Victor De Linde explains how efterskole life at Ranum gave him both greater independence and a huge academic boost - especially thanks to the split-level teaching that made a big difference to his development.

Gala pictures
Gala moments deserve a revisit! We already shared some great photos from last week's gala, but they were so good that we couldn't resist sharing even more. Enjoy the atmosphere and the beautiful moments - the Gala lives on in the pictures! Next week is the last week of the school year, a week full of activities and socialising!

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
This week we have had visits from young people from a Danish school in Schleswig and from our UNESCO twinning school in Turkey. The young visitors have a hard time understanding the freedom and empowerment of efterskole life. The cultural differences between their school system and ours are almost incomprehensible, and it's hard for them to understand the direct and informal relationship between students and teachers - and especially between students and management at Ranum. Even though our school worlds are very different, we come together around UNESCO's core values, where education, freedom of expression and equality shape everyone's life and everyday life.
In the coming week, we're ending this school year with a fantastic outro week. On Sunday, we've invited you to pick-up and family dinner from 5-7pm. On Monday, we'll focus on play and community in Fårup Sommerland. On Tuesday we organise the last House Cup of the year, and it will be exciting to see which house will win the big trophy. On Wednesday, students visit their contact teacher or gather in their family groups for the last time. Thursday is a big cleaning and tidying day, so we're ready for extreme cleaning of the rooms on Friday. When the rooms are ready for the summer school students, the students hand in their keys and head off to the Dream Festival camp in Næsby. Saturday is the graduation ceremony at 11am on the lawn, where we say goodbye to the 21st group of students and send them off on new adventures - with the belief that we have made them a little braver and a little more open to the world and each other!
