06 Jun Focus, celebration and community: A week of exams, Beach Clean-Up and gala preparations
Dear all
The week at Ranum has been full of activity and atmosphere: Students have been practising Lanciers for next week's gala, and the first oral exams are well underway. On the beaches around us, students have made a difference at Beach Clean-Up Day, and we had a special chat with former student Mathilde Ludvigsen, who shares her reflections on her time at Ranum and life since. With Pentecost just around the corner, we're nearing the end of an eventful 1TP5 Year - and we're far from done yet!
Happy reading!
Oral exams
This week has seen the first oral exams, and the students have taken up the challenge with vigour and focus. You can tell that the year has prepared them - both academically and personally. We cheer them on and are delighted with the many great achievements that have already been delivered!

Beach Clean-Up
On Wednesday evening, a group of students took responsibility for the environment and collected rubbish along the beach between Rønbjerg and Lendrup. They found everything from cigarette butts and plastic to fishing nets - traces of human behaviour in nature. An important reminder that small actions make a big difference to our shared marine environment.

Meet Mathilde Ludvigsen
In this article you can meet Mathilde Ludvigsen, a former student at Ranum 10 years ago. She explains how a trip to Morocco left a deep impression and changed her view of the world and herself.

Lancer training
The students have spent the week practising Lanciers for this year's gala, which is fast approaching. The atmosphere has been high with laughter, dancing and practising steps to perfection. Check out the video and photos as preparations for the big night are in full swing!

Become a host family
We need 11 amazing families to open their homes to students from Thailand, Turkey and Mexico. Host families must be able to host a student for a few weekends and holidays throughout the year. This is a unique opportunity to create cultural encounters and friendships for life! Ranum Efterskole College travels the world several times a year, and this is an opportunity to give back to the world.

Whitsun weekend
Pentecost is approaching and it's an opportunity to recharge for the last big events of the 1TP5 Year. We wish you all a wonderful Pentecost - next week there will be a gala, party and dancing!
Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
The Danish oral exams are off to a good start. Students who have worked hard throughout the year are confident and hopeful. Students who have slacked off academically are visibly more nervous, but as a local science teacher likes to say, "anxious" students are more alert and attentive, so they'll get through anyway. For those students who really struggle to stand up for themselves and perform at the exam table, we try to help them through exam training. Because the exam period is not just a final, it's also an exercise in mastering the external demands of standing up for your knowledge and skills, which are only intensified in secondary education. It is important to remember that regardless of the grade at the table, it can be a great victory for the individual to have improved or maintained their academic level throughout the 1TP5 Year.
This coming week, Thursday is Gala Day, and the students will be allowed to show off their outfits with fancy dress and launches. Remember, it doesn't have to be a new outfit, but can be recycled and put together in a festive way!
Yesterday was Constitution Day. We couldn't celebrate it at school because of the many exams, but we'll make up for it next week. The Danish Constitution is the reason why we have the freedom to form our own schools in Denmark alongside the politicians'. Without the Constitution, students at Ranum would not have had the opportunity to use the world as a classroom and shape their own timetables by proposing and voting on subjects of interest. This is unique and a gift that we need to give young people a special awareness of so they don't just take it for granted.
