Travelling is living - the second part of our Cultural Subject Journeys

Good away, but best at home. The second half of our Cultural Subject Journeys is coming to an end and we're excited to get the students back to school. Travelling is living - and boy, are we living! School visits, hiking, volunteering, surfing and sailing are just some of the activities the students have enjoyed this week. We're sure that all students have had a wealth of experiences, impressions and culture. In this week's newsletter, we have compiled an overview of all our Cultural Studies trips. We hope you enjoy it.

US Texas

This week in Texas, we visited the George Bush Museum, enjoyed a water park and took part in the American horse culture. The cold weather in Texas has challenged the group a lot, as this means that large parts of society shut down. Therefore, the group has had to think fast and has had a lot of help from local guide Ed, who has been able to come up with alternatives to the programme.

The US Robotics team has reached the road-trip part of the trip. The cold weather has also been felt here, and the group has explored the Everglades, Savannah and Daytona Beach.

The training manager's column

As Headmaster Olav Storm is in Japan on a Cultural Studies trip, there is no headmaster's column this week. However, we don't want you to be cheated, so Head of Education Matthew Danaher has put a few words on his thoughts about the ongoing Cultural Studies Journeys.

Dear families and friends of the school,

I am on my way to South Africa, where I will enjoy a two-week holiday with my lovely family. I do this with peace of mind, due to the good feedback I have received from the Cultural Subject Journeys. My impression is that the students have had some great experiences and that the travellers have been able to overcome the challenges they have encountered. Next week, we'll be back to normal classes and everyday life will once again begin.

I hope that many of you will be able to join us for this year's Culture and Family Day on 11 February.

Have a great weekend,

Matthew Danaher.
