Full Host Weekend, Christmas cosiness & TEBO

Dear reader,

When you open this week's newsletter, Ranum Efterskole College is filled with both younger and older versions of our students. The traditional Siblings' Weekend is something our students have been looking forward to. They have been given the opportunity to invite a sister or brother to visit. Show off their room and efterskole. There will be lots of fun activities for them to experience together. Because we have more fun together. Before that, the students have once again spent their time with TEBO, the Christmas spirit continues to spread joy in the houses and our Full Host students have visited H.C. Andersen's hometown. Andersen's hometown.

Would you like to experience Ranum's efterskole life up close? Now is your chance! We're hosting Efterskolernes Aften on 10 January 2024. Sign up here and visit Ranum with a guided tour from the students and delicious food and drinks.

Enjoy the newsletter. Have a great weekend.

Full Host Weekend in Odense

Our Full Host students spent the weekend travelling to the city where the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen grew up - Odense. Andersen grew up - Odense. Here they visited the renaissance building Egeskov Castle and experienced Danish Christmas at the Christmas market. Full Host students gained a broader understanding of Hans Christian Andersen's writing and the meaning behind his work. Andersen's writing and the meaning behind his many fairytale stories.

Christmas cosiness in the houses

Christmas cheer is spreading everywhere on efterskolen. And in Kær- & Ranumhus, they certainly haven't held back. See how the Christmas spirit is spread around the houses through hugs and big Santas below!

International House North Denmark

Our international students visited International House North Denmark in Aalborg to learn about how Danish companies can expand their workforce, the practicalities for international citizens interested in studying or working in North Denmark, and existing initiatives to promote integration into Danish society.
Student Services from Aalborg University gave an inspiring presentation on job opportunities for international students who are about to complete their degree programme. This day was an extension of the CV and cover letter workshop we held two weeks ago at the school.

Platinum - TEBO

This week, Platinum - High Tech World in TEBO visited Vest Himmerlands Gymnasium and did programming and encryption.

The Blue World - TEBO

BLUE TEBO has experienced so much in the last few weeks. Visits to the Martec Martim training centre, with communication tasks, practical tasks and a trip to Kattegat in a survival suit. There is no doubt that the practical tasks capture the students. They have been to vocational schools and learnt about hydraulics and to a blacksmith workshop and bent plates. In addition, they have visited DTU Aqua on Mors and learnt about life in the fjord and sustainable fjord gardens.

Headmaster's column

November darkness and fog have enveloped the school this week, but above seminariehuset the tallest Christmas tree in Himmerland is lit up, and in front of the main building the Christmas trees are lit up in a row. The 10th grade students have also been out of school for 3 days on the final stage of TEBO. This week, the focus has been on meeting the different professions that the various industries are orientated towards. Among other things, the Blue World has been on a company visit to DTU Aqua on Mors, where those interested in marine biology gained a good insight into, among other things, sustainable fjord gardens.

This weekend is sibling weekend. In the coming week, there will be ample opportunity to live the efterskolelife 110% in the performance week, which ends with a show, Christmas market and presentations about the Cultural Subject Journeys, as well as the upcoming choice for the 3rd period Profile subjects. We look forward to welcoming all parents, siblings and grandparents who are able to come to a cosy day at Ranum with, among other things, a "Global Factor" talent show in the banquet hall and the opportunity to buy this year's Christmas tree. Read the full invitation for the day further down in the newsletter.

Have a great weekend,

Olav Storm.
