Colours, community and first professional steps

As we enter the second week at Ranum, everyday life is slowly finding its rhythm.

Students have started regular school subjects, but the social and adventurous 1TP5Life is still filling up the calendar - and it shows!

Happy reading!

Colorparty - an evening of colour

On Friday evening, the multi-purpose hall was transformed into a rainbow of fun and colour as this year's Colour Party took place! Students wore their assigned colours, creating a festive and creative look. The evening included delicious poke bowls from the kitchen, ice cream for the sweet tooth and live music from the band Øjesten, which got the dance floor moving. There were also plenty of activities and laughter - a perfect opportunity to strengthen the community and get to know each other even better. Professional day trips

On Saturday morning, the kitchen spoilt us all with a large and tasty brunch - the perfect start to a day full of experiences. The students then set off on their first profile subject day trips, and there was a lot going on everywhere: sailing in Rønbjerg, cameras clicking in Aalborg with the media team, the smell spreading through the kitchens in gastronomy, clubs being swung at golf in Løgstør - and much more! It's clear that the students have already thrown themselves into their profile subjects with enthusiasm, which bodes well for the coming weeks.

Yearbook 2024/2025 - ready for distribution

The first Yearbook books have already been handed out in the following cities: Aarhus, Copenhagen, Fredericia, Odense, Aalborg, Viborg and Silkeborg. Here are pictures from the handover in Aarhus, which was a true reunion party. Thank you to all former students and parents who stopped by - it was great to see you again!

Phones are back

After a week and a half without phones, this week the students got their mobiles back. Although many have mentioned that they haven't actually missed the screen, it was still nice to be able to check in with friends and family - the smiles don't lie!

Training is in full swing

After a good start, the students are now really getting to grips with their subjects. It's great to see how their academic skills are taking shape while social life is flourishing. Everyday life at efterskolen is slowly taking on a regular rhythm, and the students are both engaged and curious.

Headmaster's column

Dear reader,
The intro period has been rounded off with a welcome party, a stay weekend with plenty of time for profile subjects, socialising and lots of activities. The students have got their mobile phones back, and now each student must learn to respect the mobile-free zones. The absence of mobile phones has been discussed a lot among the students, and going forward we will also reflect on what it means that the mobile phone now helps to give the community a virtual dimension.

The introductory period has gone fantastically for most, and many good friendships have been made. For some, however, it has also been difficult. Several have experienced homesickness and uncertainty in the new efterskoleliv, and we have a few vacancies for this school year. TV 2 Nord has visited us twice, and in a programme on Saturday they will focus on how we support students who need it, for example in relation to homesickness.

Now an extended weekend awaits, and the students need to recharge their batteries. In a few minutes, the Ranum bus will take the students home to Zealand and South and Central Jutland, while our full-host students are on a weekend trip to Silkeborg. We look forward to seeing the students back on Sunday after 6pm and after dinner.

Have a great weekend.

Olav Storm Johannsen, Principal
