16 May In the spirit of creativity and sport
Dear all
This week has been all about sport and creativity. New students got a taste of efterskolelivet on Sunday, some cheered on the stands at the Ice Hockey World Cup in Herning, and the ceramics workshop was buzzing with creativity - all while this year's school portraits were taken.
Happy reading!
New Students' Day
On Sunday, the school was buzzing with life as we welcomed New Students' Day. The prospective students tried on school clothes, learnt about profile subjects, enjoyed delicious food in the sun - and most importantly: met each other for the first time. A day filled with smiles, curiosity and good first impressions. All the speeches can be viewed at the following link: Speech NEW STUDENT DAY 2025

Sun over Ranum
Spring has really been at its best and students have been busy enjoying the outdoor areas. The sun has created the perfect setting for everything from volleyball matches to relaxing in the open air.

Everyday glimpses from the pottery workshop
The pottery workshop has been busy this week as students have had the opportunity to glaze their own wheel-thrown creations. They have been working with both colours and details, and it's exciting to see the beautiful results taking shape. Creativity has really had free rein and we can't wait to see the finished pieces!

Preparation for 2nd class day
Next week, we will be visited by around 160 second graders who will tour the school grounds and participate in activities planned by our efterskole students. It will be a fun and educational day where the little ones can experience efterskole life first-hand. The students are looking forward to hosting and sharing their experiences with the young ones! The pictures are from the students' preparation for the cosy visit. The primary school students come from schools all over Vesthimmerland.

In the stands at the Ice Hockey World Championship
Efterskolen gathered a busload of excited students and headed to Boxen in Herning to experience the Ice Hockey World Cup up close. The atmosphere was great as we watched Germany vs Norway and Hungary vs Kazakhstan. An evening filled with speed, camaraderie and wild goals!

School portraits
This week was also the time for this year's school portraits. Every student stepped in front of the camera - some with broad smiles, others with a twinkle in their eye. The photos will be a wonderful memento of a special 1TP5Year when they appear in the students' blue book, which will be ready for distribution in August. Martin Damgård is a professional photographer and is responsible for the photography.

Visit from Niels Brock
This week we had a visit from three pedagogical leaders from Niels Brock Handelsgymnasium in Copenhagen. They had the opportunity to experience efterskolen up close and gain insight into our pedagogical approach and teaching. An exciting meeting with an exchange of ideas and inspiration.

Skydive
On Saturday, an exciting adventure awaits when several of the students will try their hand at skydiving! Many are looking forward to the amazing experience and the atmosphere is already high. It's sure to be a day filled with courage, adrenaline-fuelled moments and lots of laughs!

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
We have made it through most of the written exams and the IG exams are still going strong in the coming week. The vast majority of students have done fantastically well and have followed our recommendation to use the exam period to "take stock" and gain experience for the upcoming youth programme. Pedagogically, we have experienced that several students do not show up for their chosen profile subjects and activities. We have pointed this out at the assembly and encouraged them not to "cheat" themselves and pull others out of a cool activity just to "hang out together". There's plenty of free time and time to socialise during the efterskole week - and especially during the trial period. But efterskolelivet is the whole package, and everyone has a better experience when everyone supports the activities. Perhaps we have too high a level of activity during this trial period, and we will now evaluate this together with the students.
This week we have exchange students from our friendship school in Spain, and we have had a visit from three educational leaders and counsellors from Niels Brock who had heard that we are doing well in terms of well-being in Ranum. We are always happy to have visitors and to share our experiences - so that other young people can also improve their well-being and have a great school stay.
Have a great weekend!
