Christmas student party, snow, trip to Aarhus & concert at the school

Dear reader,

We are now approaching the Christmas holidays, where students say Merry Christmas to their friends at efterskolen and head home to their families. But before that, let's take a look at this week's highlights, where the students participated in the second student party of the year, went on a trip to Aarhus and were entertained with an exciting concert at the school. We also had a visit from Lasse Kvist, who performed a hypnosis show for the students. Start your weekend with a cosy read from this week's newsletter and dive into Ranum's unique 1TP5Life right here!

Remember that you can already sign up for Efterskolernes Aften! We hope to see you there! Sign up here!

Have fun!

Christmas student party

The second student party of the year was celebrated in Christmas sweaters and Santa hats. Thank you to all the parent volunteers from the PTA who organised and put together such a fantastic party! And thank you to all the participating students who supported us in creating a memorable and inclusive evening for everyone. Stay tuned to SchoolPlan, where the PTA will announce exciting details about upcoming student parties next year!

The party takes place outside the school and is organised by the parents.

Snow over Ranum

December began with large piles of snow over Ranum. Our student Mads managed to take pictures of the snow before it melted and while it was at its best:

9th graders on a trip to Aarhus

Today, the 9th graders went on a trip to Aarhus in connection with a programme on Romanticism and the Modern Breakthrough. We visited ARoS, where we had a guided tour of paintings from the period. Afterwards, there was also time to see some of the other exhibitions and take a walk in the rainbow. After ARoS, we went to the Old Town. The students had time on their own to walk around the Christmas decorated city, where we took a group photo in front of the big Christmas tree.

Life of a Busker concert

On 11 December, we were visited by the Danish musical couple Life of a Busker, who write and sing songs on the streets around the world. Thank you so much for a fantastic concert!

"Our music is intimate and personal pop that touches on themes of love, loneliness, mental health challenges and the feeling of not belonging, while drawing inspiration from the experiences we've had and relationships we've built with people around the world."

Dance recital

Friday started out with the traditional assembly, where a group of students had prepared the coolest dance show! Thank you so much for the show!

Headmaster's column

Music and magic descended on Ranum this week and the students were literally hypnotised when the hypnosis show was held at the school for the first time on Wednesday evening.

The show was a student suggestion and it was as seductive and mesmerising as they had dreamed.

It has also been the week after the 2nd student party was organised by the volunteer parent council and the students. It was a really good "Christmas party" and they are already looking forward to the next student party on 1 March.

This weekend, we are focusing on health and well-being, and the students can choose many activities or just have fun together. On Monday, there are TEBO presentations all day in Year 10 before we fill Ranum Church with festive and happy students. After the Christmas graduation in the church, the big Christmas ball starts in Multihuset with Christmas dinner, Christmas waltz, songs and performances. The evening ends with a fireworks display to bid a fond farewell to 2023 and look towards the stars in 2024. On Tuesday, the whole school and all rooms are decorated for Christmas, and then we dance around the tree of life in the schoolyard after the teachers have performed the classic Ranum nativity play. Everyone goes on Christmas break from 14.30 and we look forward to seeing the students again on 2 January after 18.00. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Have a great weekend,

Olav Storm.
