Christmas times, Concert and Christmas Calender

Dear reader.

Can you feel it?

The days are getting colder, the fairy lights are shining in the dark and the Christmas calendars are rolling on the TV. It's finally December, and you can really feel it at Ranum. We love Christmas and we always do our best to spread the Christmas spirit together with the students. The first week of the Christmas month has been spent decorating, watching Christmas movies and calendars, eating Christmas snacks and of course the students have had term exams. In the middle of the week there was a concert in the banquet hall, which was the product of the hard work of the music team during Imagination Week. All in all, a lovely week, which thankfully we still have more of before we go on Christmas break.

Welcome to the newsletter and enjoy reading.

Christmas spirit at the after-school is something special

Christmas is something we have together. Something we all share. It gives a strong sense of community that we're really enjoying at the moment. During contact group time we play parcel games, in the evening there is a Christmas calendar on the screens in all the houses, and of course we decorate. Most of the rooms have decorated their doors and before we go on Christmas break, the winner of the competition for the best decorated door will be decided. More on that later.

Last week, a large group of students attended the Christmas Market, where they baked and created a lot of homemade Christmas treats and decorations. Under normal circumstances, parents and grandparents would have been invited to a family day when our Christmas Market would be open with all these things. Unfortunately, this year we didn't, so it was possible to buy the delicious stuff through the students. Thankfully, many people took advantage of this and it is another example of how we work around Corona.

Thank you to all of you who bought and thus supported our friendship schools and support work around the world.

Imagination Concert live from Festsalen

The students who chose music for Imagination Week deserve a lot of praise and are on a really well-deserved weekend right now. Sore fingers and well used vocal cords didn't affect them as they took to the stage and played a great and well prepared concert. As Carl explained, the concert was inspired by dreams, which was the theme last week.

If you missed the concert, luckily it's waiting for you on Facebook. Click here or on the picture below to see it.

We're getting more experienced in broadcasting live, and now we've got new equipment to make the experience even better for you watching at home. Watching live gives a different feeling to watching a recording - at least that's what we think. What do you think? Does watching live give you a different feeling? Feel free to give us feedback and tell us what it's like to watch along and if there's anything that could be done better. The inbox is open and please write to lb@ranumefterskole.dk with feedback and input.

Final exams successfully completed

Several students were nervous when they arrived on Sunday. The final exams were coming up, and for some it's harder than for others to be in a test situation. On the other hand, it's great practice and once it's over, most people benefit from the experience it gives before the real exams. Now students are ready for print and have tried what it's like.

Follow our Christmas calendar on Facebook

Every day in December we open a door in our Christmas calendar on Facebook, and it includes competitions, Christmas room tours, Christmas stories, DIY Christmas cut-and-paste and a lot more. There's plenty of Christmas cheer so do follow along.

See the first doors opened and go to Facebook by clicking here.

Next week we will have a regular schedule again after two special weeks, and this weekend we will have a Wellness Weekend.

That was the news of the week here from Ranum. Thank you for reading.

All the best,

Ranum Efterskole College
