27 Jun The school year ends with the DREAM FESTIVAL
We rounded off the school year with a cracking party at this year’s Dream Festival – a fantastic way to mark the end of a year full of experiences, camaraderie and memories.
Time has now run out, and the school year is over. We wish you all the very best for the future and are already looking forward to seeing you again at the reunion next summer.
Happy reading!
It was lovely to see last year’s pupils again
It’s always a joy when former students return to Ranum. At the weekend, last year’s students dropped by for a cosy reunion with both former teachers and old classmates. Many also peered curiously through the windows to catch a glimpse of their old rooms – and see how they’ve now been furnished by the new residents.
Thank you for popping in. It’s always a pleasure to hear what you’re up to these days, and what plans and dreams you have for the future.

Day trip to Faarup Sommerland
Rarely have we had such tired pupils return to school as after a whole day of non-stop fun at Fårup Sommerland. Ranum had set up camp right in the middle of the amusement park, from where the pupils were free to explore and try out exactly the rides they fancied. Most of them enjoyed their packed lunches in the shade before heading off to enjoy even more attractions. It was a fantastic day and a great way to bring the whole class together – and you could certainly tell that Ranum made quite an impression all around the park.

Which house is the absolute best in Ranum?
On Tuesday, it was time for the big showdown! Which house is actually the best when it comes to working together on baking, sport and quizzes? This was put to the test as all the houses competed against each other in a range of different events. After plenty of great atmosphere, teamwork and close competition, we were finally able to crown Seminariehuset as this year’s winner. Congratulations on your victory!

At the contact teacher’s home for the last time
A big part of life in efterskole is the sense of community within the contact group and the relationship with the contact teacher. That’s why, for the last time this school year, we went on home visits to the form tutors. We spent the day enjoying good food, playing garden games and, for some, taking a refreshing dip in the lovely summer heat that has swept over us.

The Ranum Award and Revy 2026
Who’s been the hardest worker this year? Who’s been absent the most? Who’s spent the most money at Brugsen? Who’s been the best friend this year? And who could take the titles of Mr and Mrs Ranum 2026?
We found out the answer at the pupils’ big Awards Show, where, over the past few weeks, they’d been able to vote for the nominees they thought deserved to win. After the awards ceremony, the teachers took to the stage with a revue looking back at the year’s many experiences and quirky moments – and it brought plenty of laughter and a great atmosphere to the hall.

Pizza Run
The last evening in the rooms is always something quite special. It’s a time for chatting, laughing and sharing memories from the past year. That’s why, for many years now, it’s been a tradition for the pupils to have their food brought straight to their rooms – and, of course, it has to be pizza, just like a proper takeaway.
All the staff on duty therefore donned their delivery uniforms and packed pizzas, crisps and sweets to take to all the rooms, before delivering everything straight to the door. After everyone had eaten together in their rooms, there was time to socialise with one another around the school grounds. For many, it was only then that it really dawned on them that the year was drawing to a close.
DREAM FESTIVAL
Summer means festivals – and that goes for Ranum too, of course. We have our very own Dream Festival, which the project class has impressively organised with the help of an innovative team of teachers. The final efterskole day was therefore celebrated in the best possible way, with a festival atmosphere, a campsite, various stages, plenty of activities and a sense of community that provided the perfect backdrop to the end of yet another fantastic school year.
Graduation 2026
Thank you for a fantastic school year, filled with everything from cosy moments in the school’s nooks and crannies and great travel experiences to friendships across nationalities, good conversations over lovely meals, new skills and countless memories that will last long after the year is over.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
Ranum never sleeps. The warm, light nights, the sense of community and the feeling that ”it’ll all be over soon…” kept the students awake until the sun rose again. Although we pretend that the efterskole year will never end, it is now irrevocably over for the Class of ’22 following the Dream Festival and the graduation ceremony. The final assembly was our last chance to make an impression on the students, which is why my graduation speech centred on the question: Why was it possible to meet up one year into life at efterskole? What ideas and values underpin the unique sense of community and the exceptional freedom that we have used to shape our own school year, take on the world and experience diversity? I showed the classic portrait of Grundtvig to the whole hall. Although very few young people are immediately ”inspired” by the late N.F.S. Grundtvig, it is only now that they are beginning to understand the significance of his ideas and the society that has made way for the free school system, enlightened democracy, freedom of expression and the many opportunities we often take for granted. It takes a year to sense and experience the significance of the countless choices made on the basis of one’s own dreams and interests, and to appreciate the value of conversations across generations and cultures within a committed community. My message was therefore also a question for the pupils: Will you fight for a society where people are free to choose their schools? Will you fight for our democratic values and help to preserve a society where your own children, too, might one day attend Ranum?
The school year is now drawing to a close, and the summer holidays are just around the corner. All staff can breathe a little easier – together, we have helped to prepare some 540 young people for the next stage of their lives. A well-deserved summer holiday now awaits most of us, but things won’t be quiet for long at Ranum. Over the coming weeks, around 250 students a week will be arriving at Ranum International Summer School, and on 9 August we’ll once again be ready to welcome more than 540 young people to another magical efterskole year at Ranum.
Happy summer to you all!
Yours sincerely
