12 May Dear new students - it was a pleasure to meet you
This week is short due to the Ascension holiday, but it certainly hasn't stopped the activities. The school has continued to be bustling - not least on Sunday, when we had a visit from next year's students for New Students' Day.
This week you can read about our new cinema and an exciting collaboration with the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, where our students participated in a croquis project focusing on body diversity and reflection.
Happy reading!
New Students Day class 26/27
A huge thank you from all of us to all of you for a fantastic New Student Day on Sunday!
With around 1500 participants gathering on the lawn, the day was exactly the party we had hoped for. It was a day filled with smiles, expectations, new meetings and lots of good energy.
We know that for many, the day has also brought butterflies, excitement and maybe a little nervousness. This is completely normal - and actually a very good sign. Of course it feels big to leave home, make new friendships and start a whole new life. But don't worry: when the school year starts in August, everyone soon realises that they're in exactly the same situation.
The most important thing is to meet the new with openness, curiosity and the courage to give things a try - maybe not just once, but several times. 1TP6Life is a process and everything will fall into place little by little.
We're more excited than ever to welcome you back for the start of school.

The annual general meeting
On Sunday evening, a general meeting was held in Guldhornssalen. The programme included an update on the past school year, a presentation of new initiatives for the coming school year and a review of the school's finances and key figures.
There was also a presentation about the journalistic project we have been involved in this year on the cultural travels. Here, 10 journalism students have participated in the trips with the aim of creating greater reflection among the students and asking more in-depth questions about the experiences and activities the students have been part of along the way.
We feel that the journalists' presence has had a very positive effect on the majority of the journeys, which is why we will continue to work with the project and explore the possibilities of repeating it in the coming school year.
Finally, a big thank you to the board and everyone else present for their commitment and support.

Padel on the school timetable
Did you know that we have padel as a profile subject at Ranum Efterskole?
Once again this year, there is a lot of interest in padel, and we're very happy about that. Just a 10-minute drive from Ranum is Gatten, where we have access to optimal facilities with both indoor and outdoor courts and good equipment for training and matches.
The padel team includes both students trying the sport for the first time and highly skilled players who will soon be representing the school at the Efterskolernes Padel Championship.
In our new video you can get closer to the students, hear their experiences and learn more about why padel has become such a popular and community-building sport at Ranum Efterskole.
Neat and tidy croquis
How can you feel perfect in an imperfect body?
This question is becoming more and more prevalent in an age where social media is constantly setting standards for how you “should” look. Many feel measured and weighed on looks, performance and perfection - but the reality is that no two bodies are the same, and that's what makes them beautiful.
That's why the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation is working to create more focus on body acceptance and show what ordinary bodies look like - with all their differences, strengths and unique details.
Our students took on the challenge with an open mind and great commitment and got a truly inspiring morning out of the project. Through creative drawing exercises and an exciting panel debate, the project focused on an important topic that affects many young people today. It created reflection, good conversations and lots of food for thought.
We have a new cinema!
We are absolutely thrilled because we have a new cinema. Our skilled caretakers and technicians have worked hard on the project, and last week the new cinema was finally ready. Already this week it has been used extensively, and there is no doubt that both students and teachers are enjoying the new surroundings. With good seats, a large screen and great sound, the perfect environment for better teaching has been created.
The new cinema is located in the basement of the primary school, which makes it much easier to combine cinema experiences with everyday teaching. Our current cinema in the Seminary House will continue to be used extensively, but with the new cinema, the opportunities for teaching, film screenings and cosy evenings for the students in Ranumhus have become even better and more accessible.

Headmaster's column
Dear reader,
New Student Day was a great success with lots of happy future efterskole students and parents. Everyone got through the day's programme with the five mandatory activity sessions. After talks with teachers, trying on school clothes, information about the school rules and framework, introduction to the Ranum bus and lunch together, everyone gathered for a big assembly on the lawn in front of the main building. You can watch the assembly and hear about parenting in this video. The day ended with everyone attending two presentations on profile subjects before the final choices must be made by 18 May.
In my principal's speech, I emphasised “Togetherness” - the feeling of belonging to a large community where we meet each other with recognition and a simple hello throughout the day. A little hello shows both respect and belonging and signals: “I've seen you.” That little word can be the start of new friendships and maybe even love, and now that seed has been planted in the more than 540 young people starting this summer.
After New Students' Day on Sunday, we held a general meeting in Ranum Efterskole's school district. It went very well and both board members and deputies were re-elected. This creates continuity, security and peace of mind in the collaboration between staff, management and board, which is important in the major development process towards 2030.
In the coming week, many exciting activities await you again. Among other things, we are holding a 2nd class day for all students in Vesthimmerland Municipality, where our 10th grade students will welcome around 400 students and lead them through a journey around the world filled with activities. We also celebrate World Bee Day, where we honour the bee that pollinates the flowers and produces nature's delicious honey. Friday is probably Denmark's best Last Day of School with a huge funfair of activities all around the school. Throughout the day, students collect points to earn the right to send their teachers into the big diving tank. It doesn't get much better than that.
Happy Ascension holiday to all.
Yours sincerely
Olav Storm
Principal
