This week has been full of exciting experiences - from the visit of Chinese students and exam preparations to the PVA competition and the Liberation Day celebrations. We're also looking forward to New Student Day on Sunday, where future students will have the opportunity to meet us and each other.

Chinese students visited Ranum Efterskole College
On Friday evening, 2 May, we warmly welcomed a group of Chinese students from our friendship school in China. During the week, they have experienced both Ranum and Denmark - from a tour of the local area to an adventurous day at Legoland. They have sailed with our students, experienced efterskole life up close and got involved in everything from core subjects to communal dining.
The exchange is a great opportunity for both our students and theirs to learn about each other's cultures, as we have also had the pleasure of visiting them in China. Experiences help us open up new perspectives and create understanding across borders - something that is important for both personal and global development.
Written exams
The week has also been characterised by exam calm and concentration, as the focus has been on the written exams. Here are some pictures from Tuesday's maths exam in the multi-purpose hall.
Liberation Day 4 May
On 4 May, we marked Liberation Day in Ranum with candles in the windows, like so many other places in Denmark. A beautiful reminder of the importance of community and freedom - two values we value incredibly highly at Ranum Efterskole College.
Video, photo & article competition
On Wednesday morning, students gathered for this year's VPA competition, where students showed their best videos, photos and articles from their recent Ranum travels around the world. With students as hosts, good energy and a room full of anticipation, the winners were announced: DKK 500 to the category winners and AirPods to the lucky "Best of All".
Congratulations to all the winners!
New students' day
This Sunday it's finally time for New Student Day! You'll have the chance to meet the staff and each other and get a taste of what efterskole life at Ranum Efterskole College is really all about. We can't wait to welcome you and teach you more about the school so you're even more ready for the adventure ahead!

Dear reader,
We are well underway with both the Danish and international exams. The international students in particular are under a lot of pressure, as some of the Cambridge exams start while they are sitting the Danish exams, which means they have to be isolated from the outside world until they can start the international exams at a different time from the rest of Europe. The exam period challenges many students' expectations of themselves, and their expectations often reflect those of their parents. In the mirror of the fact that for many students the 10th grade no longer carries much weight after being admitted from the 9th grade, tensions can easily arise between the student's own efforts, expectations and especially those of their parents. It's a dilemma for everyone for years to come, and in this light it's important to understand that tests and exams are not just for the sake of the school system. They are very much a personal education project, where the young person learns to be motivated by learning itself and manages to cope with the external demands that only increase through secondary education and later in life.
The rehearsal period is also a time for more freedom and free time - in between rehearsals. And these days, many creative invitations are being made between the boys and girls, as the time for the big Gala party is fast approaching.
This weekend we have New Student Day on Sunday, and we are very excited to see the upcoming student team.
