Nepal collection, test start and garden project

Dear reader,
The great natural disaster in Nepal touches us all deeply and we have immediately started a collection under the Danish Red Cross. Our friends in Nepal are unharmed, but many have lost their homes and all their food supplies. We hope that everyone who has visited Nepal with the school and met our Nepalese friends here in Ranum will make a contribution to the collection. More news will follow in the next newsletter.

Ranum Efterskole College has a friendship school in the Meetchee area 80 km. east of Kathmandu. About 800 students have visited the area and made experiences and friends for life.
Now is the time to support and collect in earnest.

New vegetable garden project at Ranum Hus

We have become part of the project "Gardens for stomachs" under the Seasons and have received funding from Nordeafonden to make a large-scale kitchen garden project.
Each contact group gets its own plot of land for a kitchen garden where they can plant peas, carrots, tomatoes and flowers for the gala and harvest celebrations. The kitchen gardens are located at Ranum Hus and a nice area with a tool bench and outdoor kitchen has been created.
The students are involved in designing the gardens and it's great if you can bring a shrub or plant from home for after the weekend. We will be planting in the gardens in the coming week and a facebook group called Gardens for Tummies - Ranum Efterskole College has been set up with small instructional videos and inspiration for the project. We hope that it will be a lovely sanctuary for the contact groups where they will enjoy getting in touch with nature and the process of growing sustainable vegetables etc. The idea is that each garden will be handed over to a contact group in the new school year and that they can visit their garden again on the reunion day.

The international tests are launched

Examination time has started! Cambridge International Mathematics at Ranum Efterskole College today 28 April. It is a very complicated puzzle to get the Danish and the foreign exams to fit together as the int. tests must be held at the same time all over the world. We will of course keep parents and students informed if there are any changes.

New spires for the two towers in the schoolyard

Today, measurements were taken for new spires and prototypes were tested that will adorn the two towers in the schoolyard at Ranum Efterskole. Prototypes and ideas are created by local forces in Ranum and the surrounding area.

In the coming week

In the coming week, the written tests will be in full swing and everything is ready for the tests. The students are thoroughly prepared and we have a team of senior teachers ready who have a lifetime of experience in running tests.

Best regards and have a great weekend.
