The weekend got off to a great start with a cosy sibling weekend. In the middle of the week, we hardly saw the students, as the 10th grade has been fully occupied with the TEBO programme out in the business world, while the 9th grades have had subject days. After several days of early mornings, the evenings offered extra cosiness around the houses. Siblings Weekend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the weekend, we had visits from the students' siblings, and the school was buzzing with life and good community spirit. There was baking, games, fun \u2013 and, not least, our popular look-alike competition, where the winning photo was chosen by a student vote. It was a warm and joyful weekend, where the many siblings got a real glimpse of life at efterskole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10th Grade TEBO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This week, the 10th grade classes have been at TEBO (Thematic Career Orientation), where they have been working on future choices through seven different \u201cworlds\u201d, each of which has its own colour and represents a selection of career opportunities. Here, the pupils were able to delve into industries, job types and educational paths and gain a better understanding of what might be right for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9th grade subject days <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While Year 10 has TEBO, Year 9 has had subject days. Here, maths lessons were moved out of the classroom and done in a different way. The pupils travelled to Aalborg, where they worked on measuring shapes, calculating percentages and practising mathematical thinking and strategies through board games. It was an inspiring and educational day, with everyone participating actively and showing great commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evening cosiness in K\u00e6rhuset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After some long TEBO and subject days, where all students had to get up early, the evenings offered extra fun around the houses. At K\u00e6rhuset, it was a really cosy evening with shrink plastic, piano playing and lots of early Christmas spirit. It has been a great way for the students to relax together, recharge their batteries and enjoy the community after an intense week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday's history lesson for the 9th grade classes was a meeting with Ib Katznelson, who gave an insight into his childhood during World War II. At the age of two, he was deported with his mother to the Ravensbr\u00fcck concentration camp and later to Theresienstadt. He could not remember his experiences as a child, but through thorough archival research and conversations with his mother, he has reconstructed his family's history. His account was both shocking and inspiring!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PVAY competition <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This week, we held this year's PVAY competition (Photo, Video, Article and Yearbook), where all projects were based on the students' profile subject trips back in October. Students could participate in all categories and compete for great prizes. The grand prize went to Asger, who impressed the judges with contributions in all categories \u2013 all based on his music profile subject trip to Liverpool. As a well-deserved reward, he won a brand new GoPro Hero 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bicycle Boys lecture <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The energy was sky high when cyclists Nicklas and Emil kicked off Extreme Day with an inspiring and entertaining talk! Together, they have cycled around the world, won the television programme Alone in the wilderness<\/em>, crossed the ice sheet by bicycle \u2013 and much more.
An exciting presentation about both friendship and adventure, which goes hand in hand with the cultural subjects that will soon begin and the upcoming trips in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All employees on a study trip to Hanherred and Skyum Efterskole and Mors\u00f8 Folk High School<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All employees went on an inspiring day trip to Skyum Efterskole, Han Herred Efterskole and Mors\u00f8 H\u00f8jskole. It was an enjoyable and rewarding day, where we got together outside the school grounds and had the opportunity to share experiences and perspectives with other schools. After the visits, the trip continued to Aalborg, where the day was rounded off with a theatre experience and a meal together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Headmaster's column<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dear reader,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are keeping busy in November with lots of activities on both weekdays and weekends. First, we had Christmas decorations and Grandparents' Weekend, and this weekend we were visited by the students' siblings, who played, had fun and got a glimpse into life at efterskole. It is fantastic to see our students acting as hosts and taking such good care of their siblings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be difficult to make smooth transitions in life, but bridge-building is an important step. That is why all Year 10 pupils are attending TEBO \u2013 Thematic Business-Oriented Bridge-Building \u2013 this week and are working on the OSO assignment. TEBO is not traditional bridge building for one specific youth education programme, but introduces students to seven different worlds and the path to jobs within these industries. Along the way, they also visit youth education programmes and companies to gain insight into the jobs that the programmes can lead to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experiences are documented and reflected in the OSO assignment, the Compulsory Independent Assignment. This is assessed internally in the week leading up to the Christmas holidays and is necessary to pass Year 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the week, the students have also finally received their Culture Subjects, and they have chosen activities for the upcoming Performance Week with a Christmas market, musical and much more. We look forward to welcoming the students' families to a pleasant day with the opportunity to meet the Culture Subjects teacher and talk to the contact teacher about well-being and academic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Friday, most of the employees are attending an experience course on two other efterskoler and one h\u00f8jskole. The day ends with a trip to the theatre and a cosy Christmas dinner in Aalborg, because we must also remember to create community and inspire each other as efterskole employees. Meanwhile, the students have enjoyed an exciting lecture with Cykeldrengene and tested their own limits in an extreme event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
