At Ranum Efterskole you learn to sail on the Limfjord. Here we do touring sailing, race training and sailing expeditions to the Mediterranean. In the autumn we are usually in Croatia (Profile 1) and in early summer we are in Greece (Profile 3). Both places are great sailing areas with many islands to explore.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Through the profile course, students learn to sail and navigate, and they have the opportunity to take a theoretical certificate of competency during the winter so they can put their skills on paper. One of the best things about sailing at Ranum Efterskole is the experience of sailing in your own boats with new friends, learning to work as a team - and for some, leading the team as skipper of your own boat.<\/p>\n

The voyage starts in Denmark, where the temperature is ideal, and ends with a trip to Croatia. Here, together with experienced skippers, the students will help the students to use their sailing skills and sail tour sailing. We also look at Croatian history and culture. We visit Krka National Park and some of Dalmatia's finest islands and towns - weather and wind permitting. Sailing in the autumn focuses on practical sailing in the school's eleven Aira 22-foot boats, theory in navigation, safety and cooperation on board and planning sailing trips.<\/p>\n

Practical seamanship covers sail trimming, steering by compass, GPS navigation, knots and harbour and anchor manoeuvres. We practice what it takes to pass the practical part of the certificate of competency, and if you complete and pass the theory lessons during the winter, you can take the practical test in early summer. In this way, students can obtain an overall licence. An important element of sailing is co-operation and communication in the crew, which is why we work to put together crews that complement and strengthen each other.<\/p>\n
