PANAMA<\/h2>\n

By joining a trip to Panama, you commit to actively engaging in cultural encounters. Panama, located in Central America, is known for its impressive nature, diverse culture and strategic location with the Panama Canal. The country offers a diverse nature that spans tropical rainforests, coral reefs and mountainous regions, and is home to over 10,000 plant species and a rich wildlife with rare birds, butterflies, tapirs and jaguars.<\/div>\n
Much of Panama is covered by national parks and protected areas that play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity - which we will explore in class.<\/div>\n
This trip not only provides us with beautiful scenery and fun activities, but also a great volunteering opportunity and a unique insight into the culture and nature of Panama.<\/div>\n
\n

Academic programmes<\/strong><\/h2>\n
In class, we will work very project-based with topics that inform us about Panama's culture, nature, history, tribal people and more. We will explore the importance of UN Sustainable Development Goal number 15 and how Panama protects its national parks and protected areas.<\/div>\n
We will also work with the language to improve our ability to communicate with locals and build stronger relationships. Part of the training will include connecting with young people at a local school where we will share experiences and learn from each other. Therefore, we are also addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 with quality education.<\/div>\n

TRAVEL
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n
On this journey we will experience large parts of Panama. In the mountainous area around Santa Fe, we'll get close to the rainforest where we'll hike to waterfalls, through fruit and coffee plantations - and climb a mountain. In the city, we will become part of the small local community with school visits, participation in town festivals, football tournaments and visits to the local swimming lake. We will also do volunteer work here, where we, in consultation with the mayor and Don Victor, will collect rubbish in the town.<\/div>\n
After Santa Fe, we travel to Panama City. Here we will experience the Panama Canal, the old and new parts of the capital and the atmosphere the city creates.<\/div>\n
The journey ends in the Darien area. Here we'll stay with the Ember\u00e1 tribal people, who live very isolated deep in the rainforest. We'll live primitively and on their terms - eating what is caught and grown in the area, participating in dances, rituals and experiencing the rainforest and tribal people from Panama up close. We'll also be collecting food to help out in the area.<\/div>\n

There may be different requirements depending on nationality. Generally speaking - EU nationals are required to have a passport that is valid for the duration of the stay only, whereas Non-EU nationals are required to have a passport valid min. 6 months after the travel.<\/p>\n
